A set of example videos depicting how some of the complex Expressions can be built using the Expression-Builder tool.

Example 1

Expression: SUM(SALES WHERE CATEGORY = APPLIANCES) - AVG(SUM(SALES) ACROSS CATEGORIES)

In this example, we construct the above expression. The expression computes the difference between the total SALES for APPLIANCES and the average SALES for a CATEGORY.

Also see filters and grouping in functions.

Example 2

Expression: PERCENTAGE(SUM(SALES), OVERALL(SUM(SALES))) ACROSS CATEGORIES

In this example, we construct the above expression. The expression calculates the total SALES of each CATEGORY as a percentage of the overall SALES.

Also see OVERALL.

Example 3

Expressions: AVG(100 * (SALES - UNIT COST) / UNIT COST) , PERCENTAGEINCREASE(SALES, UNIT COST)

We compare the above two expressions in this example. From the documentation for PERCENTAGEINCREASE, the above expressions are equivalent and should result in the same data.
